ZA Sureli Awarded Quaid e Azam Badge

Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) has decided to award ZA
Sureli, venerable journalist and member of Pakistan Movement, with
Quaid-i-Azam Badge.
Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) started its
Independence Day celebrations by pinning Quaid-e-Azam Badge on ZA Sureli,
senior editor of The News.
Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) President Iqbal
Yousafi, along with Ibrahim Tahir, Naeem Qureshi, Mazhar Ali Adeeb, Kaukab
Khan, Khalil Qureshi and Rehman Zulfi, paid rich tributes to ZA Sureli for
his contribution in Pakistan Movement. Speaking on the occasion, ZA Sureli
revealed when they brought out a procession in London in favour of
Pakistan, the English people, observing their enthusiasm, said they would
succeed one day in establishishing their own homeland. He advised the youth
especially the journalists to work for the solidarity of the country
following the foot steps of Quaid-e-Azam.

Chief Justice's reinstatement celebrated

Lahore - Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) has urged
Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto action over Lal Masjid incident,
Karachi killings, detention of Dr AQ Khan and killing of Akbar Bugti.
Addressing a function held to celebrate reinstatement of Cheif Justice
of Pakistan, PFJA President Iqbal Yousafi said solidarity and integrity of
the country was at stake. He appreciated the media's role during judicial
crisis, which, he said, faced pressure and played commendable role.

PFJA concerned about press freedom scenario (International Press Freedom Day

Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) has expressed concern
over press freedom situation in Pakistan.
The PFJA in its meeting condemned rising events of attacks on Press
properties in a bid to harass journalists and gag the press and Media. The
meeting chaired by PFJA President Iqbal Yousafi also deplored violence
against journalists. "At least 60 journalists got injuries or faced
violence last year while performing their duties and another18 were
arrested during dispensation of their duties", he said.
The meeting also demanded immediate arrest of the killers of six
journalists slain or shoot dead in one year. Mazhar Ali Adeeb and Khalid
Latif also attened the meeting.

PFJA protests journalist's killing

Lahore - Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) staged a protest
rally against the killing of Hayatullah Khan, a journalist of North
Waziristan Agency.
The protesters, led by PFJA President Iqbal Yousafi, appealed to the
Supreme Court Chief Justice to take suo moto notice of the gory incident.
Chanting slogans against the government, they demanded of administration
to immediately arrest the Kidnappers and Killers of the tribal journalist.

PFJA condemns PAPRA

Lahore - Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) President Iqbal
Yousafi has condemned the establishment of Press And Publications
Authority.
He said institutions like NEPRA and OGRA were also made for the
betterment of the people, but they had miserably failed to deliver and it
would happen with PAPRA as well.
He said in develop countries the rules and regulations of Print Media
were made by the Press Council, which met the international standards,
acceptable to all. Yousafi said that the Information Minister had prepared
the draft for Press Council in which the PFJA also presented some proposals
but for some reasons it could not be implemenented.
He said efforts will be continued to oppose the establishment of PAPRA
and the PFJA will support APNS and CPNE in this regard.

Journalist body lauds CJP, flays attck on Geo Tv

The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) have pledged to offer
every sacrifice for the freedom of Press and independence of judiciary. The
PFJA also congratulated Cheif Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary for his
firm stand, saying that he was on right path. If the reference had any
thing true, the CJ could have been black mailed, it said. PFJA President
Iqbal Yousafi blasted government for attack on Geo TV and The News offices.
He said the hidden hands also tried to attack on another TV channel but
they failed to do so.The PFJA President said the CJ was the first man who
gave the relief to the people that was why the whole nation was with him.
