LAHORE: The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) President Iqbal Yousufi on Thursday met with Information Secretary and PTV Chairman Syed Anwar Mahmood to discuss the Press Council draft and the policy regarding the issuance of declarations.
The Information Secretary revealed that the draft of the Press Council had been prepared and the consent of both parties had been secured.
Yousufi drew the Secretary’s attention to the negative consequences of the “free declaration” policy, highlighting its impact on journalistic standards.
He also expressed concern over certain television programmes aired on PTV, which, according to him, promoted despair and vulgarity in society. The Secretary assured him that strict action would be taken against such programmes and pledged that, moving forward, only objective and constructive programmes would be broadcast.

لاہور: پاکستان فری لانس جرنلسٹس ایسوسی ایشن کے صدر اقبال یوسفی نے جمعرات کے روز اطلاعات کے سیکرٹری اور پی ٹی وی کے چیئرمین سید انور محمود سے ملاقات کی اور پریس کونسل کے مسودے اور ڈیکلریشن جاری کرنے کی پالیسی پر تبادلۂ خیال کیا۔
اطلاعات کے سیکرٹری نے بتایا کہ پریس کونسل کا مسودہ تیار ہو چکا ہے اور دونوں فریقین کی رضامندی حاصل کر لی گئی ہے۔
اقبال یوسفی نے سیکرٹری کی توجہ ڈیکلریشن کی آزاد پالیسی کے نقصانات اور اس کے نتائج کی طرف دلائی۔
انہوں نے پی ٹی وی چیئرمین کی توجہ ان پروگراموں کی جانب بھی مبذول کرائی جو معاشرے میں مایوسی اور فحاشی پھیلانے کا باعث بن رہے ہیں۔ سیکرٹری نے یقین دلایا کہ ایسے پروگراموں کے خلاف سخت کارروائی کی جائے گی اور آئندہ صرف مثبت اور معیاری پروگرام نشر کیے جائیں گے۔
