Daily Jang Lahore — September 13, 1993
A delegation of the Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA), led by its president Iqbal Yousufi, visited senior journalist Waqar Usmani, who was seriously injured in a traffic accident. On this occasion, the association presented a bouquet to the journalist as a gesture of goodwill.

Lahore (Report) — A delegation of the Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA), led by its president Iqbal Yousufi, visited senior journalist Waqar Usmani at the emergency ward of Ganga Ram Hospital, where he has been under treatment after a serious road accident.

Waqar Usmani sustained severe injuries in the accident, resulting in a broken arm and leg.

Following the visit, the association expressed deep concern over the indifference of the Punjab Government, noting that it has been over a week since Waqar Usmani was admitted in critical condition, yet no responsible official, including from the Directorate of Public Relations, has visited him.

In a press release, PFJA stated that Waqar Usmani is a hardworking, honest, and dutiful journalist, and that his treatment costs around one thousand rupees per day, which is beyond the means of an ordinary person. Doctors have indicated that he will need to remain under treatment for at least six more months.

The PFJA urged the Punjab Government to immediately sanction special financial assistance and ensure free medical treatment at government expense for the injured journalist.
