PFJA Condemns Illegal Punishment of Journalist in South Waziristan

Nov 3: The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) has strongly condemned the illegal punishment inflicted upon journalist Mehmood, terming it an attempt to harass him.

PFJA President Iqbal Yousufi described the act in South Waziristan as criminal and blamed the political agent for colluding with a former minister and a notorious smuggler allegedly involved in a heroin case.

Mr. Yousufi said he had also sent telegrams to the President and Prime Minister, urging them to take notice of the serious misconduct of the political agent and to ensure his dismissal for targeting a dutiful journalist.

PFJA Condemns Killing of Journalists in Wana, Criticizes Govt’s Response

The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) has expressed deep grief and concern over the killing of two journalists by snipers in Wana.

PFJA President Iqbal Yousufi strongly condemned the government for its lopsided and inadequate response to the tragedy.

In a meeting, the association observed that the meagre amount of compensation announced for the families of the slain journalists reflected the low priority the government attaches to the lives of an important section of society.

PFJA Welcomes Appointment of Kamran Lashari as Punjab Information Secretary

LAHORE: The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) on Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Kamran Lashari as Punjab Information Secretary.

In a press release, the association stated that Lashari has always shown keen interest in addressing the problems of journalists.

PFJA President Iqbal Yousufi praised him as an “active and effective officer” and expressed hope that his tenure would help strengthen ties between the government and the media community.

لاہور: پاکستان فری لانس جرنلسٹس ایسوسی ایشن نے بدھ کے روز کامران لاشاری کی بطور صوبائی سیکرٹری اطلاعات تقرری کا خیرمقدم کیا۔

ایک پریس بیان میں ایسوسی ایشن نے کہا کہ کامران لاشاری ہمیشہ صحافیوں کے مسائل میں دلچسپی لیتے رہے ہیں۔

پی ایف جے اے کے صدر اقبال یوسفی نے کہا کہ کامران لاشاری ایک متحرک اور مؤثر افسر ہیں اور امید ہے کہ ان کی تقرری سے حکومت اور صحافتی برادری کے تعلقات مزید مضبوط ہوں گے۔

PFJA Expresses Condolences on Death of Sarmad Bashir’s Son

LAHORE: Sarmad Bashir's son died of cardiac arrest on Monday night at Ittefaq Hospital. Bashir is a senior journalist working at The Nation. Sajawal Sarmad (14) was buried at the G-Block Model Town graveyard. A large number of journalists attended the funeral. Sajawal's qul will be held on Friday after the afternoon prayers at 143-2C/II, Township, Lahore. A dua will be said after Asar prayers. The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) condoled Bashir on the sad demise of his son. Iqbal Yousufi, the PFJA President, expressed deep sorrow to the grieved family.

Senior Journalist Sarmad Bashir Bereaved

LAHORE: The son of senior journalist Sarmad Bashir, who works at The Nation, passed away on Monday night due to cardiac arrest at Ittefaq Hospital.

The deceased, Sajawal Sarmad (14), was laid to rest at the G-Block Model Town graveyard. A large number of journalists, colleagues, and friends attended the funeral to express solidarity with the bereaved family.

The Qul will be held on Friday after Zuhr prayers at 143-2C/II, Township, Lahore, while a special dua will be offered after Asr prayers.

The Pakistan Freelance Journalists Association (PFJA) condoled with Sarmad Bashir over the tragic loss. Iqbal Yousufi, President of PFJA, expressed deep sorrow and sympathy with the grieving family.
